Zacharias "Zack" Elijah Embler

Asheville –Zacharias “Zack” Elijah Embler, 88, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at his residence while surrounded by his family.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Aaron Embler and Ella Mae Holloway Embler. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Elledge; and brother, Sampson Strong Embler.

Mr. Embler worked for Direct Oil Company for 25 years and always enjoyed helping others. He was a friend to all and attended many area churches where he enjoyed singing. He was also an accomplished song writer having written and performed over 100 gospel songs.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Gladys Embler; children: Aresa Dalton and husband Kenny, John Jeffery Embler and wife Deborah, Aaron Embler and wife Rachael, and Daniel Embler and wife Karren; grandchildren: Shannon Byrd and husband Jason, Stephanie Link and husband Jay, Grant Dalton and wife Chassidy, Jonathon Embler and wife Megan, Christopher Embler and wife Heather Clement, Lyndsey Parham, Bryan Embler, Derek Embler, Justin Embler and wife Ginny, and Ruby Embler; several great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Cauble; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Austin Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 till 11 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon Embler, Christopher Embler, Grant Dalton, Jason Byrd, Derek Embler, Justin Embler, and Bryan Embler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Embler’s memory to a local church of your choice.
