ASHEVILLE - WINNIE MAE "NANNIE" LOWE RIDDLE, 98, OF 51 GOODMAN ROAD, DIED MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2000 AT ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A BRIEF ILLNESS. SHE WAS A NATIVE OF MAYO, SC AND HAD RESIDED IN MADISON AND BUNCOMBE COUNTIES FOR MOST OF HER LIFE. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF ELK MOUNTAIN BAPTIST CHURCH AND RETIRED FROM BURLINGTON INDUSTRIES. MRS. RIDDLE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE MARION OLIVER AND AUGUSTA PADGETT LOWE AND WAS THE WIFE OF CLAYTON JAMES RIDDLE WHO DIED IN 1976. SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER DAUGHTER, BLANCHE RIDDLE HAWKINS WHO DIED IN 1995. SURVIVING ARE HER SON, BERLIN LEE RIDDLE WITH WHOM SHE MADE HER HOME; GRANDCHILDREN, ALICE ROBERSON, ELAINE LYDIATT, NANCY CHOCKLEY, YVONNE HIGGINS, AND JEFF RIDDLE ALL OF ASHEVILLE; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, CHAD ROBERSON, TRACY ROBERSON, NICOLE CHOCKLEY, BROOKE ROBINSON, ERIN LYDIATT, AND MORGAN CHOCKLEY. SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2 PM WEDNESDAY IN THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH THE REVS DEAN HUGGINS AND CLARK HENDERSON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN ASHELAWN GARDENS OF MEMORY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 TO 9 PM TUESDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. AT OTHER TIMES THE FAMILY WILL BE AT THE RESIDENCE. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO ELK MOUNTAIN BAPTIST CHURCH, 5 CHURCH RD., ASHEVILLE, NC 28804.
