LEICESTER - WINNIE HENSLEY SHELTON, 90, OF THE OAKS AT SWEETEN CREEK, FORMERLY OF SLUDER BRANCH RD. A DEVOTED MOTHER AND HOME MAKER WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2000 . A NATIVE OF YANCEY COUNTY, MRS. SHELTON HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY SINCE 1950. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF MT. SHEBA BAPTIST CHURCH WHERE SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE LADIES BIBLE CLASS. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE WOODFIN HENSLEY AND LAURA HENSLEY AND WAS THE WIFE FOR 68 YEARS OF THE LATE THOMAS WESLEY SHELTON WHO DIED ON JULY 12, 2000. SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY 3 DAUGHTERS, 2 GRANDCHILDREN AND SIX BROTHERS. SURVIVING ARE HER DAUGHTERS, MYRTLE SLUDER AND PATRICIA DENNIE, BOTH OF LEICESTER; SONS, EARL JAMES SHELTON OF ASHEVILLE, LARRY SHELTON OF CLYDE, AND VAUGHN SHELTON OF FAIRVIEW; BROTHER, JAMES HENSLEY OF BURNSVILLE; 7 GRANDCHILDREN AND 9 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. SATURDAY IN THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH THE REV. VINCE KEITH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN PISGAH VIEW MEMORIAL PARK. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 TO 9 P.M. FRIDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
