Wilma Taylor

Asheville Wilma Lois Haney Taylor, 88, of 795 New Leicester Hwy, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at her home. A native and resident most of her life of Buncombe County, she was formerly employed at Square D and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late Charlie Everette Haney and Pearl Rhuetta Buckner Haney. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Fred R. Hicks who died November 6, 1971 and Robert Wiley Taylor who died June 9, 2000. Surviving are her sons, David Hicks (Rita) of Black Mountain and Allen Hicks (Lisa) of Asheville; daughter, Sherry Gasperson of Arden; brothers, Everette Haney (Nell) of Asheville and Earl Haney (Henrietta) of Weaverville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 25, 2016 at New Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the church.
