Willie Charlie Littrell Jr.

Woodfin - Willie Charlie Littrell, Jr., 66, 0f 83 Martel Village died Tuesday March 18, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County he retired from Three Mountaineers Inc. and also from the Woodfin Volunteer Fire Department after 21 years of service as a volunteer fireman and was a former member of the board of directors for the Woodfin Community Center. He was a son of the late Willie Charlie Littrell, Sr. and Della Johnson Littrell and husband of the late Betty Jean Doan Littrell who died March 16, 1996. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles Littrell and Jap Johnson. Surviving are his sons, Chuck Littrell of Woodfin and Jeff Littrell and wife Janet of Woodfin; brother, Bob Littrell and wife Christine of Cruso; sisters, Pat Self and husband Howard of Alexander, Peggy Wyatt and husband Grover of McCormick, S.C., Anne Moore and husband David of Woodfin and Sue Gillespie and husband Jack of Ga.; grandson, Jeremy Littrell and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Elk Mountain Baptist Church with the Revs. Howard Self and Dean Huggins officiating. Burial will be in Elk Mountain Cemetery with pallbearers provided by the Woodfin Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his son Jeff Littrell.
