William Thomas Muse, Jr.

May 5, 1953 — March 8, 2023

Asheville – William Thomas Muse, Jr., 69, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Mission Hospital.

A native and resident for most of his life of Buncombe County, Mr. Muse retired from the City of Asheville Water Resources Department following 34 years of service. It was due to his diligence in making sure water operations were not disrupted during the Blizzard of 1993 that he was awarded the Order of the Longleaf Pine from the Governor of North Carolina.

Mr. Muse was a member of Crossroads Church, and regularly attended services at the Beth Israel Synagogue. He was a Bible scholar, teaching himself the Hebrew language to better understand the Bible. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and, most importantly, a good, Godly man.

Mr. Muse was the son of the late William Thomas Muse, Sr. and Pauline Turner Muse. He was also preceded in death by his son, Zachary Asher Muse, who passed away in 2010.

Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Connie Hall Muse; his daughters: Aliyah Rose Muse and Olivia Ateret Muse; and several members of extended family.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Crossroads Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joanne Chinkers Ministries, C/O Crossroads Church, 20 South Bear Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

As Thomas would say in closing his prayers, “May we be the people God has called us to be.”

Anders-Rice Funeral Home is honored to serve the Muse family.
