William Henry "Bill" Stephenson

Asheville - William Henry Bill Stephenson, 73, of Cedar Hill Road, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Memorial campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired as a conductor from the Norfolk Southern Railway after 34 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Stephenson was the son of the late Arthur Henry and Molly Ann Williams Stephenson. Surviving are his wife of 51 years: Helen Guthrie Stephenson; sons: Monty Dale Stephenson and wife Annette and William David Stephenson, all of Asheville; grandchildren: Angie Black, Crystal Stephenson, Kayla Stephenson, Jeremy Stephenson, Nickolas Stephenson, and Jessica Stallings; sisters: Betty Stephenson of Swannanoa and Annie McNeil of Asheville; brothers: Daniel Stephenson and Charles Stephenson, both of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery, with Pastor Daniel Stephenson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
