Asheville - William Harrell Gass, 61, of 3 Lamb Avenue, died unexpectedly Friday December 31, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Tyrrell County, he had lived all his life in Asheville. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had been employed by Cranston Print Works of 30 years. He was a son of the late James Horace and Anna Lou Owens Gass and was also preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Hall and a brother, Daniel Gass. Surviving are his wife, Martha Gass of the home; daughters, Marketta Rogers and Karen Gass both of Asheville; grandchildren, Crystal and Travis Rogers and Cody and Kaitlyn Gass; sisters, Kate Sherlin, Jennie Sue Price and Mary Maxwell; brothers, Buddy, Roy, Jerry and J.C. Gass and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Alf Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Morning Star Cemetery in Haywood County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
