William Frederick "Bill" Wolter

Asheville - William Frederick Wolter, 86, died Friday, August 2, 2002 at the Asheville V.A. Hospital. He was a native of South Bend, Indiana where he attended the South Bend Public Schools and South Bend Business College. Mr. Wolter was the owner of Wolter Wholesale Co. and was retired from Sherwin Williams. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church where he was Treasurer and Deacon for many years. He was a long time member of the West Asheville Kiwanis Club, and he was a musician and served during WW II in the 644th Army Air Force band. He was the son of the late William and Olga Wegner Wolter. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Ballinger Wolter of the home; son, William Floyd Wolter and wife, Lynn of Woodinville, Washington; daughter, Susie Shaw and husband Chris of Asheville; grandchildren, Art, Josh, and Mark Wolter, and Rebecca and Christopher Shaw. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday at West Asheville Baptist Church with The Rev. Ken Lewis and Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
