William "Chub" King

October 6, 1943 — August 23, 2022

Asheville – William “Chub” Edward King, 78, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Asheville, he was a son of the late Virginia King Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ingle King who passed away on March 16, 2022, and two grandchildren: Hannah and Colby. Chub was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Overnite Transportation after 33 years. Surviving are his children: Randy King and wife Lisa, Tammie Caldwell, and Kelli Coates; grandchildren: Colin King, Tyler Smith, Taylor Smith, Ryan Craine, and Tim Murray; sisters: Jolene Walker and Becky Roberts and husband Craig; brother, Rick Taylor and wife Joan; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Oak Hill UMC Cemetery, with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2:30 PM on Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The King family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge for their care and compassion for the King family.
