William "Bill" Taft Evans, Jr.

Woodfin – William “Bill” Taft Evans, Jr, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late William Taft Evans, Sr. and Alda Vearl Hollifield Evans. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Evans Green; brother, Gerald Evans; and sister, Shelby Jean Evans.

Mr. Evans was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Surviving are his daughters: Deborah Ann Barker and husband Don, and Sherri Gwen Evans; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Ashlawn Gardens of Memory.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of CarePartners P.A.C.E. and Hospice for all their loving support and care given to Mr. Evans and his family.
