Asheville - William Bill Adams, 85, of 75 Haywood Street passed away Monday August 14, 2006. A native of Chester, PA, he had lived in Asheville since 1944. Mr. Adams worked at Asheville Hosiery Mill, Lee H. Edwards High School (Asheville High) and retired from the Asheville VA Medical Hospital in 1986. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the American Legion Post #891 and the VFW. He was a son of the late James Blair and Minnie Wright Adams and the husband of the late Pauline Calloway Adams who passed away August 27, 1975. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Minnie Gardner and Elizabeth Adams and brothers, James and Johnny Adams. Surviving are his son, William Adams, Jr. and wife Beth of Graham; daughter, Brenda A. Farlow and husband Tim of Asheville; brother, Alfred Adams and wife Linda of Zanesville, OH; grandsons, Tony Farlow and wife Katy, Daryl Farlow and wife Kay, Marcus Adams, Travis Haralson and wife Zhanna all of Asheville and Jason Haralson and wife Leslie of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Melissa Adams Hancock and husband Shawn of Chapel Hill; step grandsons, Mike Ivey and wife Belinda of Fayetteville, Chris Ivey and wife Tammy of Graham and Pat Ivey and wife Linda of Kernersville; great grandchildren, Abbey Elizabeth Farlow, Timothy Chase Haralson, Emily Lorin Haralson and Kila Taylor Hancock; step great grandchildren; Jennifer, Graham, Heather, Stephen and Meredith Ivey and personal friend and companion Edna Metcalf. He was a great Father, Grandfather, Father-in-Law. He was very important to everyone close to him. He never knew a stranger and shared his love with everyone who knew him. He made everyone he knew feel special. We will miss you Daddy. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. The family will receive friends following services.
