Leicester - Weaver Sams, 83, of 71 Mink Farm Road, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital System following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, he had resided most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a construction worker for Bonitz Insulation Company. Mr. Sams was the son of the late Clarence and Altha Barnes Sams. He was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Sams, and a brother, Howard Bill Sams. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Sharpe Sams, of the home; three sons: Howard Sams and wife Bunny of Asheville, Jerry Sams and wife Mae of Leicester, and Ricky Sams of the home; three daughters: Brenda Ball and husband Luther of Marshall, Kaye Swann and husband Dale of Leicester, and Marsha Sams Cole of Leicester; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Ruth King of Leicester and Sally Frisbee of Marshall; and a brother, Riley Sams of Leicester. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie McMahan officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Sams, Dale Swann, Marc Swann, Jason Swann, Kevin Ball, and Brandon Sams. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
