Wayne Wright

October 7, 1907 — September 29, 2002

East Flat Rock - Wayne Wright, 94, of 465 Oak Grove Rd, formerly of Asheville, born October 7, 1908 died Sunday September 29, 2002 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville. Son of the late Robert L. (Bob) and Minnie Lee Snyder Wright, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine Laughter Wright; brothers, Abe, Tom and Lewis Wright and sister, Janie W. DeBruhl. Surviving are his sister, Sadie W. Ingle of Asheville; companions, Gay and Frances Robinson of East Flat Rock, where he resided for many years. Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud. Wayne was always proud of his service in the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCCs) during the 1930s. and was a faithful attendant at the annual reunions. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after Pearl Harbor, serving in the Security Forces aboard ship and in Norfolk, Va. for the entire war. He retired from Pritchard Paint and Glass, Co. in 1972. Uncle Wayne as he was known to kin and friends alike will be greatly missed by one and all, especially his adopted family of Robinsons. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Cecil Robinson and Roy Rector officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M.
