Wanda Faye Gassaway

Asheville – Wanda Faye Gassaway, 76, of 25 Cherokee Road went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Mission Hospital.

She was a native of Oak Ridge, TN and had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. Miss Gassaway retired from American Enka in 2009 following over 44 years of service. She loved growing flowers, the beach, and her fur babies.

She was a daughter of the late Rev. R. H. Gassaway and Gertrude Bryson Gassaway and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy Diana Gassaway who died October 19, 2017 and brother, Terry O’Dell Gassaway who died in 1975.

Surviving are her sisters, Colleen Tucker of Briceville, TN, Carla Ann Whitson and husband, Paul and Tula Cooke and husband, Michael all of Swannanoa, brother, Jack Gassaway and wife, Marie of Clinton, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
