Walter Lee Fisher

July 26, 1931 — July 17, 2022

Asheville – Walter Lee Fisher, 90, of 6 Brookshire Ext., passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Greens at Weaverville. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County since the age of 14 and was the son of the late Jonah Haskew Fisher and Nannie Fortner Fisher. He was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Mark Fisher , 1 sister and 1 brother. Mr. Fisher was a US Army Korean War veteran. He retired as a Brick and Block Mason, having served as a Supervisor with a Commercial Building Company, and for many years was a Bookkeeper. Surviving are his sons, David Fisher of Hendersonville and Donald Fisher and wife, Patricia of Arden; daughter, Teresa Hicks of Raleigh; former wife and best friend, Marian June Keever of Asheville; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Ballard, Louise Robinson, Patricia Claud and husband, Roger all of Alexander, and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, with military honors to be conducted by the NC National Guard.
