Walter Ervin Moody

Walter Ervin Moody, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at his residence while surrounded by his family.

A native of Sylva, he resided in Asheville for most of his life. Walter retired from Blue Ridge Trucking Company after many years of service.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Grail Moody and Beulah Fisher Moody; and brothers, Jim Moody and Joe Moody.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Nina Lee Snyder Moody; sons, Michael Ervin Moody and wife Virginia, and Walter Russell Moody and wife Jo; grandsons: Jamie Moody and wife Shereen, Justin Moody, and Dylan Moody; step-granddaughter, Christi Reed; great-grandchildren: Colby Michaell Moody, Aiden Canale, Danneal Bowick, and Kathrene Cook; sister, Kathleen Owen; brothers: Dan Moody and wife Margie, and Hal Moody and wife Sudie; sister-in-law, Hilda Ball and husband George; brother-in-law, Claude Snyder; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, George Ball officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday immediately following the service at the funeral home.
