Wallace Setser

Candler Wallace Andrew Setser, 60, of Candler, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Macon County, Wallace had resided in Buncombe County since 1974. He worked for the NC DOT as an inspector. Wallace was a former member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church in Franklin, and was a member of Montmorenci United Methodist Church, serving as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee. He was also a member of Hominy Masonic Lodge #491 AF&AM, where he served as Past Master, as well as the Land of the Sky Shrine Club. Wallace was the son of Joyce Wallace Setser of Franklin and the late Andy Setser. In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 37 years, Donna Raby Setser; daughter, Whitney Setser of Asheville; son, Jacob Setser of Candler; brother, Gary Setser and wife Pam of Franklin; sisters: Pam Hanak and husband Steph of Summerfield, FL and Kathy Morgan and husband David of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Franklin, with the Revs. Frank and Mary Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville, as well as from 1-2 PM Tuesday at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Montmorenci UMC Building Fund, PO Box 610, Candler, NC 28715, or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
