Wallace Clay Mcdonald

Arden - Wallace Clay McDonald, 78, of 3 Muirfield Place died Thursday, November 14, 2002 at Mission St. Josephs Health System. A native of Cherokee County, NC. He had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was an accountant for the U.S. Postal Service, a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, former member of Montreat Scottish Bagpipe Band, as a bass drummer and was an U.S. Army veteran serving in WW II and Korean Conflict. He was a son of the late Este Byron and Bessie Hembree McDonald. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Moore McDonald; brothers, Sheridan, Jack, Dan and Bill McDonald. Surviving are his wife, Fran Hamilton McDonald of the home; daughters, Sandra Smith and husband, Jim of Asheville, Tammy Church and husband, Tom of Black Mountain and Cindy Penland and husband, Joe of Asheville; son, Marty McDonald and wife, Brenda of Asheville; grandsons, Jason Smith, John Russell and Jake Penland; brother, Bayless McDonald of Ashland City, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Randy Melton, David Warren and Andy Scott officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Buncombe County Council Veterans Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
