Asheville - Wade Edward Dudley Tesner, 85, of 21 Beverly Rd. West, died Saturday, July 28, 2001 at the Brian Center, Weaverville following a short period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was retired as the owner/operator of Dudleys Produce and was formerly employed with Ingles Markets. Mr. Tesner formerly attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was an U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, serving on the U.S.S. Starlight in the South Pacific. He was the son of the late John Bascombe and Mary Jane Buckner Tesner and was the husband of the late Edna Mae Tesner who he married in 1940 and who died on May 21, 2001. Surviving are his daughter, Judy Payne and husband Harry of Weaverville; granddaughter, Kim Payne and husband Ricky Allen; grandsons, Kevin Payne, Keith Payne and wife Rachel and Kenneth Payne and wife Teresa; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Earsley Tesner of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ebb Jenkins and Rev. Eddie Rice officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council/Volunteer Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. and at other times at the home of Harry and Judy Payne, 25 Highland St., Weaverville.
