MORRISTOWN, TN Virginia Hunter Baston, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from her home in Morristown, TN. She died unexpectedly of natural causes. Virginia was born June 15, 1931 in Madison County, the eldest daughter of the late Hulin D. Hunter and Texie Smith Hunter. She was the wife of the late Bernard DeVore Baston, who died in 1980, They resided in Buncombe County for over forty years. She relocated to Morristown in 1993. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Hunter and Paul Hunter and one sister, Dorothy Agan all of Asheville. Surviving are her daughters, Judy Coward & husband Gene of Cullowhee; Linda Friedman & husband Joseph of Asheville; Debbie Clark & husband David of Marshall; Robyn Lay & husband Richard of Whitesburg, TN; step son, Bernard Miranda & wife Lou of Sommerset, MA; brother, Joe Hunter & wife Louise; sister, Coleen Gosnell & husband Jerry, all of Asheville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Virginia was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a member of the Womens Sunday School Class and served on the food committee for many years. Her membership remained at New Liberty after the move to Morristown. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Don Freeman officiating. She will be buried in the New Liberty Cemetery beside her husband. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kenneth Solesby, Jonathan Solesby, Chris Sharp; and Mark Griffin. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday prior to services at the funeral home.
