Virginia Marilyn Eichler Carr

August 1, 1916 — August 9, 2003

Asheville - Virginia Marilyn Eichler Carr, 87, died Saturday August 9, 2003 at the Alterra Clare Bridge of Asheville after a period of declining health. A native of Iowa City, Iowa, she resided in Garden City, Long Island New York for many years prior to moving to Asheville in 1993. She graduated in 1937 from the University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism and was an active member of the American Association of University Women in Garden City, Long Island and in Asheville. She was a daughter of the late Rudolf and Catherine Shebek Eichler and the wife of the late Hobart Cecil Carr. Surviving are her son, Gerald Lawrence Carr of Newark, Del.; daughter, Valerie Carr Larrea of Asheville; sisters, Dolores Rogers and Beatrice Davis both of Iowa City, Iowa; granddaughters, Julie Larrea Hynes and Gabrielle Larrea Ramellini and great granddaughters, Madeleine Hynes and Adrianna Ramellini. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.
