Asheville -Virginia Lee Jenkins Dockery, 87, of Old County Home Road, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mildred Jenkins, and wife of the late William “Bill” Harvey Dockery, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bryan L. Dockery; son-in-law, Michael Ross; and sisters: Louise Smith, and Doris Holder.
Mrs. Dockery retired from the National Climatic Data Center after 35 years of service.
Surviving are her children: Yvonne Ross of Asheville, J.R. Dockery and wife Nancy of Greer, SC, and Ida D. Carpenter and husband Craig of Morristown, TN; granddaughters: Heather Ross and husband Keith Kolomechuk, Brook Dockery, Virginia Hand and husband Tyler, Bryana Ochoa and husband Franklin, and Stacey Roberts and husband Michael; great grandchildren: Kannon, Kason, Knox, Kooper, Makinlee, Elijah, Issac, Reagan, Piper, Anders, and Amelia; special niece, Linda Holder; several nieces and nephews; and a special thank you to her honorary daughter, Melody Haug Crawford for being part of our family; and Josh and Jessica Elliott for always being there.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Donald Holder officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 till 8 PM at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hebron Colony Ministries, Inc, 356 Old Turnpike Road, Boone, N.C. 28607.
