Virginia Charlene Rogers

Virginia “Jennie” Charlene Sluder Rogers, 84, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 14, 2021, at her home. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Lou Bailey Sluder. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Rogers; sisters: Shirley Franklin, and Mildred Burchette; and brothers: Russell Sluder, and David Sluder. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Alexander Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons: Steve Rogers and wife, Vicki of Alexander, Larry Rogers and wife, Jenny of Leicester, and Hubert Junior Rogers and wife Cindy of Treadway, TN; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 18, 2021, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Freeman, Rev. Gerald Sprinkle, and Rev. Dean Rice officiating. Burial will follow at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
