Simpsonville, SC – Vicky Martin Smith, 68, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at her home. A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Smith had resided in Simpsonville for the past 25 years. She was a graduate of both Southern Wesleyan University and Greenville Technical College and had worked as a substitute teacher and in the marketing department of a local community college. However, her most rewarding role was being the assistive technology coordinator for the entire upstate South Carolina region. In her free time, Mrs. Smith enjoyed reading, counseling and encouraging others. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will always be remembered for her selflessness, kindness and generosity. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Norma Allene Vaughn Martin. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Jay R. Smith; sons: Phillip J. Smith and wife Sara, and Matthew S. Smith; grandchildren: Tristan Smith and Braden Smith; sister, Brenda Martin Greene; brother, Jimmy Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry White officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 11 AM till 12 PM on Friday at the funeral home with services to follow.
