Vera Nell "Vege" Conner

Asheville Vera Nell "Vege" Tiller Conner, 81, of 107 Castlerock Drive, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she attended Morningside Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Hoyt Smith and Susie Alma Spears Tiller, and the widow of Lloyd McCoy Conner, who passed away April 12, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Buster Conner, who died February 27, 1988, and her sister, Lullene Dotson. Surviving are one son, Lloyd Nelson Conner and wife Rita of Leicester; daughter-in-law, Joyce Conner of Asheville; six grandchildren: Marshall Mullinax, Brian Conner, Renee Wilson, Christina Conner, Mickie Begley, and Christopher Conner; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Babb and Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Christopher Conner, Marshall Mullinax, Brian Begley, Terry Hipps, Michael Johnson, and Robert Payne. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
