Velma Worley

Leicester - Velma Irene Worley, 94, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at the WNC Baptist Home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Worley was one of the oldest members of Corinth Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late King David and Sarah Louise Peek Smith, and the wife of Robert "Junior" Worley, who passed away December 21, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Mary Worley; one sister and four brothers. Surviving are her sons: Rev. Roger Worley of Leicester, David Worley and wife Kathi of Asheville, and Ricky Worley and wife Sherry of Woodfin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 8:30 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
