Tommy Neighbors

LEICESTER - Tommy Rans Neighbors, 68, of 15 Hill and Dale Rd., slipped into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ and his family and friends on the other side, Friday, December 14, 2012 at his residence. A native & lifelong resident of Buncombe County he retired in 1999 following 27 years of service with Eaton Corp. He served as a volunteer for 15 years with the Asheville Area Fire & Rescue and with Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department for 8 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Navy and was a Charter Member and Deacon of Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church. Tommy was a son of the late John Richard Neighbors and Willie Lee Jones Neighbors and was also preceded in death by his son, Richard Neighbors and sisters, Brenda Fowler and Gloria June Sharpe. Surviving are his wife, Judy House Neighbors; daughter, Cindy Cooper and husband, Ray; 7 grandchildren including Skeeter Davis whom they raised as their son; 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters and 4 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Alf Miller Officiating.
