Thomas Dale Penley

Skyland - Thomas Dale Penley, 54, of 49 Maude Ave. died Monday, March 10, 2003 at the VA Medical Center, Asheville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a veteran of the US Army, serving during Vietnam. He was an avid race fan and sportsman. He was the son of Charles M. Penley, Sr. of Asheville and the late Ernestine Creech Penley. In addition to his mother he was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles M. Penley, Jr. Surviving in addition to his father are his brother, Daniel Penley and wife Bobbi of Greenville, SC; sisters, Shirley Chambers of Burlington and Sandra Moore of Semora; special friend, Yvonne Conner; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Owens officiating. Burial will be in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
