Asheville – Thomas Jerry “Big Tom” Turner, 59, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. A native of Henderson County, he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was employed with Milko for the past 3 years and was formerly employed with Daggitts Pawn Shop for over 25 years. He was the son of the late Troy Turner and Shelby Jean Ingle Nace and was also preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Turner and brother, Charles “Charlie” Turner. Surviving are his wife, Glenda Lee Gooch Turner and partner for over 25 years; daughters, Mikaela Turner of Asheville and Amanda Marshall of Candler; son, Chris Swanger and finacee’ Shariyar Williams of Asheville; grandson, Jackson Marshall and sister, Stacey English of Lyman, SC. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Green Hills Cemetery at a later date. The family respectfully ask that facial mask be worn and social distancing observed.
