Thomas Barry Helms

Thomas Barry Helms, 62, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 08, 2015, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Barry was the son of Geraldine Wilde Helms and the late Henry Ransom Helms. He was also preceded in death by several aunts and uncles. Barry was a US Navy veteran having served for 9 years, and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing with his familys gospel group Next Generation. In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters: Pat Helms of Asheville, and Charlotte Helms Corn and husband Dale of Hendersonville; brother, Joseph JL Lyle Helms and wife Linda of Charleston, SC; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, May 11, 2015 at Fellowship Baptist Church, Elkmont Drive, Asheville, with Pastor Zane Edmonds and Rev. Willard Norton officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, and also for 1 hour prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be nephews.
