Thelma Lee Lowe Suggs

June 25, 1924 — January 18, 2023

Thelma Lee Lowe Suggs, 98, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Aston Park Health Care Center.


A native of Knoxville, TN, she resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Henry Jacob Lowe and Effie McElrath Lowe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Bill” Suggs and brothers: Paul Alvan Lowe and James Dale Lowe.


Mrs. Suggs was a member of the Asheville Wesleyan Methodist Church for over 70 years and was a children’s Sunday school teacher.


Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Judy Rebecca Huyett and husband Richard, and Linda Jean Baker and husband Danny; sisters: Marjorie Smith, Edna Tipton, and Mary Penland and husband Mack; grandchildren: Charles and wife Susan, Jeff and wife Bethany, Brett and wife Lindsay, and Ronnie and wife Faith; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 23, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. James King officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.


The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 till 11 AM at the funeral home.
