Thelma Greene Wright

Fairview – Thelma Irene Greene Wright, 93, of 708 Old Fort Road, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and resident of Buncombe County, she retired in 1993 from A.C. Reynolds High School where she served in the school cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member and longtime Sunday School teacher and secretary of Laurel Pines Baptist Church, and since 2006 attended Cedar Mountain Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Dennis Jerome “DJ” Greene and Ruth Ann “Annie” Morrow Greene and wife of Vernon Boyd Wright who died in 2005. She was also preceeded in death by her son, Ronnie Wright; daughter, Verma Kirby; sisters, Virginia Brock, Opal Herring, Barbara Lewis and Shirley Sayles; brothers, Robert Kenneth Greene, James Vernal Greene, Millard D. Greene, Rufo Greene and Cleo Greene. Surviving are her daughters, Wanda Blackwell (Curtis) of Asheville, Francine Ringenback (Scott) of Frisco, TX and Delores Hicks (Brian) of Taylors, SC; son, David Wright (Jodie) of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, Samuel E. Greene of Fairview; grandchildren, Angela Burdette, Andrew Shuford, Melissa Wyatt, Francesca Hoffpauir, Sean Alexander, AJ Hicks, Christopher Hicks, Christina Dahlberg, Annette Gregory and Chris Blackwell; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Cane Creek Cemetery, Fairview, with Rev. Jimmy Page and Rev. Charles Rogers officiating.
