Terry Lee Pace Sr.

March 5, 1946 — August 6, 2010

Asheville - Terry Lee Pace, Sr., 64, passed away unexpectedly while vacationing with his family in Pigeon Forge, TN on Friday August 6, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who served in the Military Police during the Vietnam conflict. He served as an auxiliary deputy under former sheriff Morrisey. Terry loved serving others. He made that his lifes mission. He spent his life helping those who couldnt help themselves. Sled dog and the Hamburger King will long be remembered for the many antics he pulled on the boys at work. This man, with a gruff exterior and lackadaisical attitude toward his fellow workers at times, had a heart of pure gold. He retired from Commerical Credit/Citi Financial after 17 years of service. He also worked at BASF as an environmental control specialist for 16 years until the plant closed. He served 30 years with Buncombe County EMS and just recently retired from 20 years at Mission Hospitals Regional Transport / Madison EMS. Mr. Pace was also a member of the West Buncombe Fire Department. He was a member of the Black Mountain Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Sheriffs Association, Moose Lodge #2220 and a member of the VFW Post #891. Mr. Pace is a son of the late Albert and Vera Henson Pace. His biological parents were the late Gladys King of Asheville and the late James Bridges of Hendersonville. He is also preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Bridges. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Lynn Pace of the home; daughter, Bridgette; sons, Andy Freeman of Leicester and son, Terry L. Pace, Jr. of Asheville; brother, Gary King of Asheville; sister, Donna Ball of Etowah; sister-in-law, Rita Bridges of Hendersonville; several nieces and one grandson, Dylan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at the WNC State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at 10 A.M. Thursday. Services will be provided by the Buncombe County Fire Fighters Honor Guard and Masonic rites by the Black Mountain Lodge #663.
