Asheville – Terry Braswell, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his residence while surrounded by family.
A native of High Point, he resided in Buncombe County since 1970. Mr. Braswell was a son of the late Luke and Letha Brown Braswell. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Daphine Paulsen.
Mr. Braswell attended High Point College where he played football and later opened his first furniture store in 1966. He was the owner and operator of the Erwin Hills Wayside Furniture Store for 52 years and a longtime member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, with 3 hole-in-ones over his lifetime.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Molly Thomas Braswell; children: Tom Braswell and wife Patrice, Doug Braswell, Teresa Jamison and husband Mike, and Mike Braswell and wife Karen; grandchildren: Luke and wife Ashley, Aaron and wife Kimberly, Sean, Ry and wife Meghan, Mollie, Elizabeth and husband Jackson, and Matthew and wife Madison; great-grandchildren: Amelia, John, Teddy, Mason, Ridge, and Layla; and sister, Helen Coble.
Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen will officiate. A private burial will be held on Sunday at the Braswell-Thomas Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mt Carmel Rd, Asheville, NC 28806.
