Susan Mcnutt Chambers

December 31, 1957 — January 15, 2021

Weaverville – Susan McNutt Chambers, 63, moved to her eternal home in heaven on Friday, January 15, 2021. Susan was the daughter of the late Barney Leonard McNutt and Mamie Kelly McNutt, and is survived by her husband David William Chambers of 40 blessed years. Susan grew up in Knoxville, graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in education. Her passion to invest in children accompanied with her spiritual gift of faith led her to be deeply involved in various children’s and girls’ ministries. Susan had a special touch of God in her life and was used to lead hundreds of girls closer to Christ through the Missionettes program at Crossroads Church, Asheville designed for girls united in Christian living, witnessing, service, missions, and in love for others. Surviving in addition to her husband; children: Kathryn Amrine (Brian) of Chapel Hill, Melissa Moses (Todd) of Weaverville, Sisters-in-law: Joy Skeen (Mike) and Charlene Horak. Of immense joy in her life are four grandchildren: Clay, Andrew, Katelyn and Kristen. Also, surviving are her brothers: Charles and Ronnie McNutt, as well as several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. A private service will be held at Crossroads Church on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 11 AM. A livestream of the service will be available at Crossroads Asheville Facebook page. Graveside services will follow at West Memorial Park with Pastors Dr. Michael J. Brown, Wade Zachary, and Glynn Bachelor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Hope Chest for Women of Asheville, or the Hope Chest Honduras fund where Dr. Nathan Williams, Oncologist, supports an orphanage and provides free medical care. www.hopechestforwomen.org/donations Another way to honor Susan would be to donate blood or platelets in her honor of which was in critical need at the time of her passing. www.thebloodconnection.org for local friends and family or www.redcrossblood.org for out of town friends and family.
