Candler - Suffie Riddle Fender, 91, of 293 Liberty Road died Wednesday January 15, 2003 at her home after an extended illness. A native of Madison County, she lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a charter member of Good News Baptist Church and a member of the church choir. She was a daughter of the late Grant and Fannie Whaley Riddle and the wife of the late Hushai Fender. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Fender; a son, Carlie J. Fender and 2 grandsons, Victor Tweed and Larry Dean Whitted. Surviving are her daughters, Juanita Dye of Durham, Patsy Waugh and husband Harold of Candler, Penny Sheppard and husband Jerry of Waynesville, Judy McGimsey and husband Bobby of Morganton, Linda Frady and husband Mike of Candler, Brenda Tweed and husband Larry of Candler and Irene Kiser and husband Dale of Hickory; sons, C. L. Fender and wife Linda of Asheville and Landon Fender and wife Shirley of Candler; sisters, Rosie Ramsey of Mars Hill and Margie Silvers of Jonesboro, Tn; brothers, Bruce Riddle of Candler and Paul Riddle of Weaverville; 26 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Good News Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Smith, Russell Rice and Harlan Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home where she will remain until being taken to the church 1 hour before services. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Linda Frady at 293 Liberty Road. Her Children arise up, and call her Blessed (Proverbs 31:28)
