Sue Spears

Asheville - Sue Roberts Spears of 501 Abbey Circle died Sunday, August 19, 2012. Sue was born September 18, 1926 in Murphy and was the third daughter to the late Thomas Jackson Roberts and Bertha McClure Roberts. She was married to Edwin E. Spears who died in 1999 and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Kathleen Roberts and Mary Lee Smith and brother, Tommy Roberts. She retired from the payroll office at UNC-Asheville and had previously worked in the business office at Highland Hospital. Surviving are her children, Gene Spears, wife Cozette and son Rob of Banner Elk; Jack Spears, wife Marianne, daughter Morgan and son Matthew of Barrington, RI; daughter, Susan Caldwell, husband Russ, daughters Katie and Jennifer of Greensboro; five nephews, two nieces and numerous cousins. Memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. In-Yong Lee officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the church. For those wishing to make a memorial gift, it is suggested you make it to your favorite charity.
