Shirley Wallen

Candler Shirley Arlene Ingle Wallen, 79, of Candler, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Wallen was an avid reader, collected many baby dolls, and adored her grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Arthur D. and Cora Lee Russell Ingle, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Eugene Wallen, Sr.; son, Bobby Eugene Wallen, Jr.; daughter, Terry Lee Roberson; grandson, Kurt Michael Wallen; and nine brothers. Surviving are her children: Curtis Wallen (Alita) and Larry Wallen (Carol), all of Leicester, Kathy Wallen Cassada (Dale) of Pomaria, SC, Lois Wallen of Candler, and Stephanie Wallen Paez (Bobby) of Columbia, SC; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; sisters: Shelby Nace of Mountain Home and Wanda Otto (Greg) of Soda Springs, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
