ASHEVILLE - SHIRLEY MAE PARKS CURTIS, 68, OF 15 BEN LIPPEN ROAD, LOT # 16 DIED MONDAY, AUGUST 28, 2000 AT THE MOUNTAIN AREA HOSPICE SOLACE CENTER FOLLOWING A LONG ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF MARION, ILLINOIS. SHE HAD RESIDED IN ASHEVILLE SINCE 1988. MRS. CURTIS WAS A HOMEMAKER, VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR IN 1993 WITH THE SALVATION ARMY HERE IN ASHEVILLE AND A MEMBER OF ASHEVILLE PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH, LONG SHOALS ROAD. SHE WAS A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE R. W. PARKS AND LILLIE MAE ARNOLD AND WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER SISTER, ANNA BELLE HERON. SURVIVING ARE HER HUSBAND, RAY YOGIE CURTIS OF THE HOME; SON, LARRY STAHLHUT OF FORT MEYERS, FLORIDA AND BROTHER, CHARLES ROBERT PARKS OF WEST FRANKFORT, ILLINOIS. MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD 3 P.M. THURSDAY AT ASHEVILLE PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH WITH THE REVS DOYLE MARLEY AND NOAH BAREFOOT OFFICIATING. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FOLLOWING THE MEMORIAL SERVICES AT THE CHURCH. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO ASHEVILLE PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH, 213 LONG SHOALS ROAD, ARDEN, N.C. 28704.
