Sharon Elingburg Rice

Leicester Sharon Lee Elingburg Rice, 57, of 1744 Bear Creek Road passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at St. Josephs Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Lansing, MI, she had resided in Asheville most of her life. She was an Administrative Assistant for 29 years with Progress Energy and was a member of Street Tiques of Asheville. Sharon was a daughter of the late James Louis Elingburg and Mary Alice Lewis Elingburg. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Martin R. Green. Surviving are her husband, Jerry Dixon Rice, with whom they recently celebrated 30 years of marriage; son, Steven Rice and wife Lani of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Shari Rice Clark and husband Kyle of Greer, SC and Kayla Rice of Duncan, SC; grandchildren, Kyle, Nikki, Malina, Ariana, Raven and Kason; great grandson, Kai; sister, Betty Elingburg Dotson and husband Stanley of Fairview; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Phillips and Rev. H.D. Houck officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
