Setsue Warren

January 5, 1931 — June 1, 2021

Candler – Setsue Shibata Warren, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Yahata, Japan, she had resided in Asheville since 1972. She moved to the USA, along with her husband in 1964, was employed with Square D for over 21 years and was of the Buddist faith. She enjoyed playing bingo, growing flowers, cooking, always thinking of others and a perfectionist in every way. She was a SGI Pioneer member for over 50 years, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Warren was the daughter of the late Tomoke Shibata and Shizue Shibata and wife of the late Howard Daniel Warren, whom she met while he was stationed in Japan. She was also preceded in death by her son, Glenn Edward Warren. Surviving are her daughter, Shirrell Warren Randalls (James) of Candler; daughter-in-law, Melodie (Warren) Barger and her husband Brad of Mills River; grandchildren, Jacob Randalls and fiancee’ Payton and Jared Randalls all of Candler; Elijah Warren, Tate Warren and Lucas Barger all of Mills River and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
