Scott Daniel Boone Sr.

January 3, 1921 — June 2, 2003

Fairview - Scott Daniel Boone, Sr., 82, of 142 Old Fort Road died Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center following a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County. He had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. Mr. Boone was a Disabled Veteran of W.W. II having served in the U.S. Navy. He was formerly a service engineer for S&W and Baileys Cafeterias and was a member of Laurel Pines Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and former Music Director. He was a son of the late Mack Edward Boone and Anzee Chrisawn Boone and the husband of 62 1/2 years to Georgia Sales Boone who died February 4, 2003. Mr. Boone was also preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a grand daughter. Surviving are his daughter, Ruby Lee Sluder and husband, Jack of Fairview; son, Scott Daniel Boone, Jr. and wife, Nancy of Fairview; grand daughters, Kathy Stroupe of Fairview, Patty Davis and husband, Jim of Apex and Myra Austin and husband, Woody of Fairview; step grandson, Chris Sluder of Fairview; great grandchildren, T.K. Wilson of Fairview, Noah Craig and Fiancee, Jennifer Camby of Fairview, Michael Craig of Fairview, Rylee Davis and Ryne Davis both of Apex; sisters, Dolly Trantham of Fairview and Beulah Suddreth of Candler; brother, George Boone of Asheville and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Clarence Bishop and Pastor Todd Royal officiating. Burial will be in Cane Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Scott and Nancy Boone, 148 Old Fort Road.
