Asheville – Our beloved Wife, Mother, Sister and Friend, Sarah Shipman Edmonds, 78 of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord, June 6th, 2022. After graduating from Erwin High School in 1962, she worked for Southern Bell until realizing her gift was to mentor children and assist people. Sarah loved her family and cared deeply for those she worked for. At family gatherings and church functions, you would see Sarah working diligently in the kitchen, many times with her frilly apron on, sleeves rolled up, and her hands in the dish water. No matter where she was, she was always an example of a true Southern Lady, very prim and proper with her hair styled, lipstick on and nails polished. She loved and cared for many children and is in Heaven now, healed and beautiful, rocking her grandson, Ezekiel Blaine Edmonds. Sarah will be forever loved and deeply missed by her husband, Joseph Edmonds; son, Stephen Edmonds; daughter, Jana Thomas; brothers: Kyle Shipman, Charlie Shipman (Susie), Jack Shipman (Teresa); sisters: Nancy Haynes (Donnie), Mary Frady (late: Jerry Frady), and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, June 12, 2022 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Ben Heise and Harold Laflin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Messino Cancer Center, 551 Brevard Rd, Asheville, NC 28806.
