Sandra Hornaday Frye, 81, died peacefully from natural causes in her home on March 5, 2025 with her husband of 64 years by her side.
Born May 18, 1943, in Burlington, NC, she was the daughter of Robert Hornaday and Myrll Branson Hornaday. She attended high school in Alamance County and then married John Franklin Frye in 1960. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a faithful member of her church, New Hope Baptist where she taught Sunday school, and later Stony Fork Baptist. She was an accomplished seamstress and talented porcelain ceramicist; she created many beautiful porcelain dolls. As a young mother she owned and operated a private childcare business and later became office manager/bookkeeper for several family-owned businesses.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Victor Chester Hornaday, George Robert Hornaday, and Robert Lewis Hornaday, jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, John Franklin Frye; brother Stephen Douglas Hornaday, daughters Teresa Frye Hanson and Laura Frye Barham; grandchildren: Aaron Orozco, Michael Taylor, Gabriel Taylor, Victoria Orozco, Adrienne Kincaid, Brittany Harrison, Zachary Harrison, Corey Harrison and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Massey officiating. Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
