ASHEVILLE - SAMUEL E. RUTH, 93, OF 44 BEN LIPPEN ROAD, DIED WEDNESDAY AUGUST 30, 2000 AT THE BLUE RIDGE REHABILITATION AND HEALTHCARE CENTER AFTER A PERIOD OF DECLINING HEALTH. A NATIVE OF HENDERSON COUNTY, HE HAD LIVED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY FOR THE PAST 65 YEARS. HE WAS OF THE BAPTIST FAITH AND WAS AN ADULT BIBLE TEACHER AT SEVERAL CHURCHES OVER THE YEARS. HE WAS A SON OF THE LATE SAMUEL FANNING RUTH AND SARAH PRAYTOR RUTH AND THE HUSBAND OF THE LATE WILLIE MAE BARCLAY RUTH. HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A DAUGHTER, PATRICIA ANN RUTH; SISTERS, JOSEPHINE BISHOP, JULIAN VAUGHN AND MAUDE MAY AND BROTHER, HOWARD RUTH. SURVIVING ARE HIS DAUGHTERS, SHARON INGRAM AND SARAH ELLIOTT AND HER HUSBAND LLOYD ALL OF ASHEVILLE; SISTERS, HAZEL AMMONS OF ASHEVILLE AND ALMA HARDIN OF BRYSON CITY; GRANDCHILDREN, DAPHNE BLANKENSHIP AND HUSBAND GARY OF CANDLER, DAVID INGRAM AND WINFRED INGRAM BOTH OF ASHEVILLE, ANTHONY ELLIOTT AND WIFE MELISSA OF ASHEVILLE AND CHIP ELLIOTT AND WIFE ANGIE OF ASHEVILLE: 8 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE SPECIAL FRIENDS, REV. ENOCH BALL, JR., RICK MESSER AND MRS. VERA ELKINS. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 P.M. SATURDAY AT BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH WITH THE REVS. ENOCH BALL, JR. AND T. A. HOLDER, JR. OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN THE BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7 TO 8:30 P.M. FRIDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME AND AT OTHER TIMES AT THE HOME OF HIS DAUGHTER, SARAH ELLIOTT, 49 BEN LIPPEN ROAD, ASHEVILLE.
