Spring Creek - Sam Love Kirkpatrick (Caldwell), age 86, was born July 1, 1922, and departed this life September 28, 2008 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of the late Daisy Caldwell Price. He grew up in the home of his grandparents, the late Lon and Lora Fullbright Caldwell. Sam was a man of many talents and interests. He was a farmer, cattleman, and one of the founders of Caldwell Well Drilling along with his uncle, the late Jack Caldwell. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the European Theater in the 8th Air Force Division. Sam delighted in relating his Army and war experience to anyone with a listening ear. After retiring he traveled and camped, visited many areas of these great United States of America. As late as October, 2007, he, with two of his friends, enjoyed a fishing trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Sam leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Geraldine (Kate) Messer Kirkpatrick; daughter, Willene Kirkpatrick Jones; granddaughter, Jeana Ferguson; grandson, Brad Jones; two great-grandsons: Robbie and Tyler Ferguson; and a great-granddaughter, Hailley Hensley; Step granddaughter Tammy Webb and step great granddaughter, Megan Webb. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Martha Price Plemmons; and two half-brothers: Thomas and Josiah (Joe) Price and a son-in-law, Bob Jones. Also left to mourn his passing are his patient caregivers, his niece, Darlene and her husband Harold Davidson. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Spring Creek community, with the Rev. Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with full military graveside honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Freeman, Robert Cade, Johnny Kirkpatrick, Harold Hunter, Rhett Kirkpatrick, Doug Connor, Michael Buckner, and David Prestwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Davidson and Garland Woody. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the services.
