Charlotte, NC – Sadako “Judy” Nottingham, 85, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 at University Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Osaka, Japan, Mrs. Nottingham came to North Carolina in 1964, settling in Jacksonville. Due to her husband’s military career, she later moved to Hawaii, then back to Jacksonville before coming to Buncombe County in 1974. She worked at WilsonArt in Fletcher for ten years as an assembler. Mrs. Nottingham had been a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Grace Baptist church, and, most recently, Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wray C. Nottingham, who passed away December 2, 1994. Surviving are her son, Michael Nottingham and wife Mary of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Deborah Nottingham Bishop and husband Tim of Asheville; grandchildren: Brittany Drake, Corey Bishop, Shane Nottingham and Jason Trainor; great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Ariana, and Koji Nottingham, Noah and Levi Drake, and Elliana Woodson; sister-in-law, Pansy Hathaway; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 24, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor James Weddington officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
