Ruth Sams King

Ruth Sams King, 86, of Leicester, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her residence. A native of Madison County, she resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Clarence and Altha Barnes Sams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Pelvin Luther King who passed away December 6, 1996; grandson, Christopher King; brothers: Weaver, Riley, and Bill Sams; son-in-law, Charlie Israel. Surviving are her daughters: Shirley Israel, Susie Brown and her husband Gerald, Ann Meadows, Barbara Buckner and her husband Bobby, Karen Meadows and her husband Kenneth, all of Leicester; son, Harold King and his wife Wanda of Marion; sister, Sallie Frisbee and her husband Woodrow of Marshall; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald McMahan officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11AM at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at the funeral home.
