Asheville - Ruth Mae Phillips Pressley, 84, died Tuesday February 10, 2009 at the Memorial Campus after a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, she had lived in Buncombe County since 1947. She was the former owner and operator of Ruths Beauty Shop. She was a member of Halls Chapel Baptist Church in Yancey County and attended Asheville Wesleyan Church. She was a daughter of the late John W. and Georgia Randolph Phillips. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Craig Phillips and a grandson, Ryan Pressley. Surviving are her husband William Bill Calvin Pressley of the home; daughter, Renee Frizzell and husband Danny of Mills River; sons, Johnny Pressley and wife Nancy of Gulf Port, MS and Hank Pressley and wife Debra of Matthews; granddaughters, Amanda Pressley and Megan Frizzell; grandsons, Justin and Taylor Frizzell; sisters, Billie P. Byrd of Burnsville and Ann Marie Robinson of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Asheville Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Archie P Fulkerson, Jr. and Holt Whitson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
